Ken Goodwin: "When I was designing my plaid cutting board, I realized that by rearranging the Walnut and Cherry squares, I could achieve this hypnotic woven effect. This cutting board requires a surprising amount of precision in cutting and gluing. A discrepancy of 1/100 of an inch can add up to a very visible 1/10 of an inch when ten blocks are glued together. I had to develop techniques to keep the blocks from moving around during clamping."
