Cherry Diamonds Cutting Board

Our Diamonds series features a technique developed by Ken Goodwin that sets these end grain boards apart from all others. In the typical factory-made end grain board, the blocks of wood are randomly glued together. The beauty of our Diamonds design, in contrast, relies on carefully keeping track of the blocks of wood as they are cut, and gluing them in sequential mirror-image patterns. The result is a fascinating kaleidoscope of diamonds and triangles that dazzles the eye. This unique look is available only at Designer Cutting Boards.

American Black Cherry grows in the Eastern United States, most notably in Pennsylvania. It and Black Walnut are considered the premier furniture woods grown in this country.

Ken Goodwin: "Cherry has less contrast and variety in its end grain than Willow, but the final effect is subtle and classy, and of course only natural Cherry has that amazing warm color that slowly darkens over time as the wood reacts to light. In many boards there are cream-colored triangles that contrast nicely with the darker wood."
